It's all about Shoulder Frill at Springfield

Off-shoulder made an appearance last summer during the start of the 90s revival seen in the S/S 15 runway shows but the trend was the real star of this season’s runway! Unlike last season’s crop top craze, the off-shoulder is more demure, an understated kind of sexy and doesn’t call for hours at the gym working on those summer abs! You can highlight your shoulders by lightly dusting some bronzer or adding some illuminating body lotion.

In reality the off-shoulder neckline has been around far-longer than that and can be dated to the 1800s where off-shoulder dresses were the latest fashion for evening gowns and often were accompanied by tight bodices and bellowing sleeves, emphasizing a women’s slim waist and slender shoulders. Sirens Brigitte Bardot and Jane Birkin gave the trend their own French spin pairing off-shoulder tops, also referred to as peasant blouses, with mini skirts as well as with the iconic “mom” jeans now also making a huge comeback. Nowadays style icons such as Alexa Chung, Cara Delevigne and even fashion bloggers such as Leandra Medine and Chiara Ferragni have embraced the trend with open arms, opting to wear their off-shoulder tops with everything from denim cutoffs to pencil skirts.

If you’re still unsure about baring your shoulders, start off by updating your go-to t-shirt with a simple off-shoulder twist. Alternatively channel the French Riviera look with a striped alternative. It’s a perfect go-to top for both date night or an afternoon spent running errands in the summer sun.

Swap your beach dress for a lovely shoulder frill printed dress that can take you from day to night just by pulling up your hair, adding a pair of earrings and simple wedges to help you dance the night away!
